Companies to Collaborate on the Development of Enriched Ad Delivery Technologies
BALTIMORE, MD, February 3, 2000 -Advertising.com, Inc., a fast growing new media direct marketing company, today announced it has entered into an alliance with Akamai Technologies’ (NASDAQ: AKAM), the foremost provider of global, high performance service for the delivery of Internet content and applications, to advance the technology for improving the delivery of rich Internet content to its network of over 4,000 Web sites.
In addition, Advertising.com announced plans to combine its technology with Akamai's EdgeAdvantageTM platform to improve the speed and reliability of global delivery of ad content for advertisers and publishers, while enhancing the media experience of Web visitors. Akamai’s EdgeAdvantage is a new platform built upon Akamai’s core technology for the delivery of best-of-breed applications and functionality. Through the Internet Content Adaptation Protocol (ICAP) initiative, Advertising.com will be able to plug into Akamai’s EdgeAdvantage platform to deliver its ad-serving applications from the edges of the network creating a new set of value-added services.
"We have seen tremendous increases in ad content delivery speed using Akamai's FreeFlowSM service, and customer response rates have risen accordingly asWeb site visitors receive relevant content immediately," said John Ferber, Co-Founder and Chief Internet Officer of Advertising.com. "With a track record of mutual growth and success, our alliance and dual involvement in the ICAP Forum positions both companies to fully enable and harness the possibilities of the coming broadband environment."
"We are excited to work with Advertising.com on enhanced Web services for its growing network of Web sites," said Earl Galleher, vice president, sales and support, Akamai. "With 4000 Web sites in its network, Advertising.com serves a significant portion of today’s Internet advertisers. We see our alliance with them as another step forward in our quest to become the Web’s leading platform for delivering best-of-breed applications on the Web."
Advertising.com's AdLearnSM technology analyzes individual consumer preferences in real time rather than relying on broad demographic profiles used by other ad networks, delivering average click-through-rates of 1.12%, almost three times the industry average of 0.4%. Advertising.com currently offers a complete package of advertising solutions for targeting consumers that features an integrated range of Web, e-messaging, and desktop products. The newest solution is the AdBroadcastSM service, a first-of-its-kind direct marketing product that delivers targeted advertising messages directly to wireless devices.
